ENGINEERED FOR EASY SELF-INSTALLATION
Installing Starlink is straightforward and can be done in two simple steps, which can be completed in any order:
- Connect the device to power.
- Aim towards the sky.
For optimal performance, Starlink needs a clear line of sight to the sky. Use the Starlink app to find the ideal setup location for your equipment.
NO CONTRACTS
Starlink recognizes the constraints that long-term contracts impose on flexibility for both parties. We offer a balanced approach:
Starlink retains the ability to modify terms and pricing as necessary, while you remain free to terminate your service at any point, for any reason, ensuring a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Understanding Starlink Mobile (Roam) Service Plans: Regional and Global Options
Are there RV mount options?
The Flat High Performance Starlink kit comes with a Wedge mount, ideal for installation on RVs and other vehicles.
Although the Standard Starlink kit lacks RV-specific mounts, we suggest exploring the Starlink shop (shop.starlink.com) to discover if other available mounting options suit your installation requirements.
Can I use Starlink in motion?
The Mobile Priority service plans, available for "Boats," "Mobility," and "Maritime," are specifically designed for use with the Flat High Performance Starlink while in motion. Standard and Priority plans do not permit in-motion usage, as stipulated by Starlink's Fair Use Policy.
For Mobile Regional and Mobile Global plan users (available on "Roam" and "Maritime"), there is an option to purchase Mobile Priority data on a per GB basis, enabling the use of designated Starlink hardware while moving at speeds under 10mph.
**Approved Hardware for In-Motion Use:**
- Flat High Performance Starlink
**Note:** The Flat High Performance Starlink is only available for purchase in specific regions. If your account is registered outside these areas, you can still use your existing Starlink hardware with Mobile Priority data for prioritized service both on land and at sea, provided the equipment remains stationary. Using non-Flat High Performance Starlink equipment in motion is at the user’s risk. Improper installation can lead to accidents causing injury or property damage. Additionally, any damage to the Starlink incurred while in motion could void the warranty.
Can I use Starlink on the ocean?
Mobile Priority data is essential for accessing the internet on the ocean.
The Mobile Priority service plan offers the highest network speeds available and can be utilized on both ocean and land. Available data plans include 50GB, 1TB, and 5TB options. To order, visit starlink.com/boats. For business applications, especially maritime, visit starlink.com/business/maritime, where Mobile Priority tiers are available in 50GB, 1TB, 5TB, 10TB, 15TB, and Unlimited options.
Should you exhaust the data allowance of your Mobile Priority plan without opting for additional data, internet access will be restricted to managing your Starlink account while at sea. However, unlimited Mobile service continues to be available on inland water bodies, like lakes and rivers. For uninterrupted connectivity and to enjoy the fastest network speeds on the ocean, you can opt-in to automatically purchase extra Mobile Priority Data by the GB.
For those subscribed to Global or Regional Mobile service plans (Roam), it is necessary to opt-in to Mobile Priority data or switch to a Mobile Priority plan (where available) to enable Starlink usage on the ocean.
Can Mobile (Roam) plans be used for RVs or camping?
Yes, Mobile Regional and Mobile Global plans are versatile and suitable for various scenarios like camping trips or connecting seasonal homes.
Mobile Regional plans are geofenced to operate on land within the same continent as the registered shipping address. Conversely, Mobile Global plans provide connectivity on any land where there is active service coverage, offering greater flexibility for international use.
Does Starlink offer DC-input power supply options?
We currently do not provide DC-input power supplies. However, Starlink's power supply is compatible with both DC-AC modified sine wave and pure sine wave inverters. For optimal performance, we recommend using a pure sine wave inverter with a minimum power capacity of 500W.
How does pause service work?
The option to pause service is available exclusively to Mobile (Regional/Global) and Mobile Priority service plans. Other plans offer the ability to cancel service, which, in most regions, can later be reactivated, effectively serving as a pause (subject to service availability upon reactivation).
**Website Instructions:**
1. Log into your account at starlink.com.
2. Under "Your Starlinks", select "Manage".
3. Click "Pause Service". If this option is not visible, your plan does not support pausing. However, canceling and later reactivating generally serves as an alternative, depending on service availability.
If you pause your service before the end of the current billing period, you will continue to receive service until the end of that period. Upon resuming your service, the monthly subscription fee will be immediately charged on a pro-rated basis, according to the monthly cost of your plan and the time remaining in your billing cycle.
**Note for the first invoice:** You have the option to pause your service before activation to avoid being billed for the first invoice. You can do this through the Account page on starlink.com once your Starlink has shipped. The first bill will then be generated when you resume/reactivate your service. For details on when activation occurs, refer to the FAQ section.
**To cancel an upcoming pause and continue your service without interruption:**
1. Log into your account at starlink.com.
2. Under "Your Starlinks", select "Manage".
3. Click "Resume Service".
How much power does my Starlink need?
The Starlink system components, including the Starlink itself, WiFi router, power supply, and cables, have specific power specifications as follows:
**Starlink Standard Actuated Power Specifications:**
- Average Power Usage: 50-75W
- Idle Power Usage: 20W
**Starlink Standard Power Specifications:**
- Average Power Usage: 75-100W
- Idle Power Usage: 20W
**High Performance and Flat High Performance Power Specifications:**
- Average Power Usage: 110-150W
- Idle Power Usage: 45W
Please note, the power utilization of Starlink can vary based on environmental factors such as temperature and location, as well as how the system is being used. These specifications are based on AC input power averages. It is important to mention that Starlink for RVs does not include a mobile power source, such as a generator.
What areas are considered land vs ocean under the Mobile Plans?
**Land Coverage:**
On the Starlink Availability Map, areas marked as "Available", "Waitlist", or "Coming Soon" are designated as land regions. The Regional Mobile plans are operational on land within your continent (refer to the continent map for details), whereas Global Mobile plans provide coverage on any land area where Starlink service is active globally.
**Ocean Coverage:**
Areas depicted in black on the Starlink Availability Map are identified as ocean regions. This includes islands unless they are specifically labeled as "Available", "Waitlist", or "Coming Soon". Mobile Priority Data is required for internet access in these ocean regions, including the unlabeled islands. Usage in local territorial waters is subject to government approval and regulations.
What is the difference between the Flat High Performance & Standard?
The Flat High Performance Starlink is uniquely designed for in-motion use cases, offering several advantages over the Standard model:
**Enhanced Satellite Visibility:**
The Flat High Performance model features the broadest field of view, allowing it to see 35% more of the sky compared to other models. It includes advanced GPS capabilities, enabling it to connect with more satellites and providing superior service for mobile users. This is crucial for maintaining a continuous connection as satellites move overhead.
**Optimal for Maritime Use:**
For maritime environments, the Flat High Performance Starlink offers the best network performance. Its extensive field of view ensures more consistent connectivity, critical when the boat experiences rolling or rocking motions. Note: The Standard Kit is intended solely for stationary use.
**Designed for Permanent Installation:**
This model comes with a Wedge Mount that tilts the installation by 8 degrees, facilitating water runoff and making it ideal for vehicle mounting, unlike the Standard model that includes a basic kickstand.
**Superior Performance in Extreme Temperatures:**
- **Hot Weather:** Users can expect download speeds up to three times faster when temperatures exceed 35°C (95°F).
- **Cold Weather:** The model also boasts a 1.7x greater snow melt capability, measured in inches per hour, enhancing its performance and reliability in snowy conditions.
Where is Starlink Mobile (Roam) Available?
Starlink offers two types of Mobile (Roam) plans: Regional and Global.
**Regional Mobile Service Plans:**
- These plans are designed for land use within your continent. You can view the continent divisions on the provided map, which is only for regional grouping and does not reflect service availability.
- To use your Starlink outside of your designated continent, you will need to either switch to a Global Mobile plan or opt-in to Mobile Priority data.
- For ocean usage, Mobile Priority data is necessary, or you must switch to a Mobile Priority service plan, if available.
**Global Mobile Service Plans:**
- Global plans enable land use of Starlink across the world, wherever service is available as indicated on the Starlink Availability Map.
- This plan can be ordered from any country listed as available on the map.
